Eid-like joy marks Amir Hamza's first vote as polling stays festive and peaceful in Kushtia-3
Polling has been taking place in a calm and orderly environment across Kushtia since morning.
Voting in Kushtia-3 (Sadar) was held in a peaceful and festive atmosphere as Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami parliamentary candidate Amir Hamza cast his ballot, describing the experience of voting for the first time as joyful as Eid.
After casting his vote at the Kushtia Islamia College centre in the town, Hamza shared his excitement with journalists and expressed hope for a fair election.
"Voting after so many years feels like the joy of Eid," he said, recalling his first-ever voting experience. "The election will take place with the joy of Eid, InshaAllah. I hope everyone can cast their votes freely. We will accept the people's verdict."
Meanwhile, BNP-backed parliamentary candidate Engr Zakir Hossain Sarkar cast his vote at the Kamalapur Secondary School centre in Ziarakhi Union of Kushtia Sadar upazila.
A total of 25 candidates are contesting the 13th parliamentary elections across Kushtia's four constituencies, including six in Kushtia-3 (Sadar).
The constituency has 440,842 registered voters, comprising 217,269 men, 223,569 women, and four voters from the third gender. Alongside the parliamentary election, the national referendum is also being held simultaneously.
Polling has been taking place in a calm and orderly environment across Kushtia since morning. As of 10am, no untoward incidents had been reported in any of the four parliamentary constituencies in the district.
On-the-ground visits to different polling centres showed a steady presence of voters, with particularly notable participation from women and elderly citizens.
