Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Monday (9 February) congratulated Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on the Liberal Democratic Party's landslide victory in the House of Representatives election, saying Bangladesh looks forward to deepening cooperation with Japan, particularly in economic and technological sectors.
In a congratulatory message, Yunus said Dhaka was keen to work closely with Takaichi's administration to further strengthen bilateral ties and advance shared priorities for mutual benefit.
"On behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh, and on my own behalf, I extend my warmest congratulations on the historic victory of the Liberal Democratic Party under your leadership," he said.
Yunus noted that the decisive mandate reflected the Japanese people's confidence in Takaichi's leadership and vision, expressing optimism that Japan would continue to promote stability and prosperity both regionally and globally.
He said Bangladesh attaches the highest importance to its long-standing partnership with Japan and acknowledged Tokyo's continued support for Bangladesh's development, particularly in quality infrastructure and connectivity.
"We remain deeply appreciative of Japan's consistent support, which has made a lasting contribution to our people and economy," he said.
The chief adviser also conveyed his best wishes for Takaichi's good health and success, and for the continued peace and progress of the Japanese people.
