Dhaka-11: Nahid files appeal against HC order clearing MA Quayum's candidacy
Earlier, on Monday (2 February), Nahid filed the writ petition challenging the validity of MA Quayum’s nomination on allegations of dual citizenship and concealing information.
National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener and Jamaat-led 11-party alliance candidate for the Dhaka-11 constituency Nahid Islam has filed a petition with the Appellate Division challenging a High Court order that rejected his writ seeking cancellation of the candidacy of BNP-nominated candidate MA Quayum over allegations of dual citizenship and concealment of information.
Nahid's lawyer, Advocate Zahirul Islam, confirmed the matter to journalists today (7 February).
Zahirul said the petition may be heard tomorrow (8 February) at the chamber court of the Appellate Division.
Earlier, on Monday (2 February), Nahid filed the writ petition seeking a stay on MA Quayum's candidacy, naming the chief election commissioner and other relevant parties as respondents.
The following day, the High Court bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md Asif Hasan rejected the petition.
