Editors’ Council demands protection for journalists during national polls

The Editors' Council has called on the state, caretaker government, Election Commission, and law enforcement agencies to ensure adequate safety and protection for journalists covering the upcoming election.

Noting that journalists face various risks while gathering and reporting news on the ground, the council emphasised that their security is of utmost importance during the election period.
The council also appealed to political parties to play a constructive role in safeguarding journalists. It expressed hope that all concerned parties will recognise the importance of the issue and take effective measures to ensure the safety of media personnel during election coverage.
