Tarique Rahman pledges Faridpur division if BNP comes to power
He identified river erosion as one of the major problems of the greater Faridpur region and said preventing erosion in this agriculture-dependent area would help boost jute production and exports, earning foreign currency for the country.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today (4 February) pledged to make Faridpur a division if BNP is voted to power in the upcoming national election.
Speaking at a rally at Government Rajendra College ground in Faridpur this afternoon, Tarique said the BNP would take necessary steps to form a Faridpur division if it contributes to effective problem-solving.
"If creating the Faridpur division helps address the issues here, BNP will do it," he said.
Questioning claims of widespread development, he said if every area had seen so much progress, then BNP candidates would not be raising so many problems during the campaign.
Emphasising accountability, he added that all power of the BNP comes from the people, and only a government accountable to citizens can move the country forward.
Tarique said the BNP has prepared plans for governance if voted to power. He identified river erosion as one of the major problems of the greater Faridpur region and said preventing erosion in this agriculture-dependent area would help boost jute production and exports, earning foreign currency for the country.
He also mentioned plans to stand by farmers by introducing a 'farmer card' to ensure timely supply of seeds and fertilisers.
Addressing unemployment, Tarique said the BNP would establish area-based industries to create jobs and enable people to live with dignity.
Stressing women's empowerment, he said development is not possible by leaving women behind. As part of social support measures, he mentioned plans to distribute 'family cards' to women, which would provide assistance to working and low-income families.
