Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has directed all units to ensure maximum security at polling centres across the capital ahead of the 13th national election scheduled for 12 February.
Addressing senior DMP officials at a coordination meeting at the DMP headquarters today (2 February), he emphasised the need for vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents at polling centres.
He particularly highlighted the importance of monitoring centres located far from police stations and strengthening police patrols in all areas.
Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam said this year's election is being held in a unique context, requiring heightened responsibility.
He added that additional forces would be deployed during the election period to maintain law and order.
Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan through a detailed presentation.
Senior officials shared their views at the meeting, after which the DMP commissioner issued further directives to ensure smooth election management.
The meeting was attended by additional police commissioners overseeing administration, crime and operations, counter-terrorism, logistics, finance and traffic, along with deputy and assistant police commissioners, officers-in-charge of all DMP police stations, and other senior officials.
