Standard Bank appoints new acting Managing Director
Standard Bank PLC has appointed Md Siddiqur Rahman as acting managing director.
Rahman, who was serving as deputy managing director and chief operating officer, joined the Shari'ah-based bank in August 2023. During his tenure, he has played a key role in strengthening the bank's Shari'ah governance framework, operational efficiency and risk management practices.
Prior to joining Standard Bank PLC, Rahman served as deputy managing director, chief risk officer and CAMLCO of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. Over a career spanning more than 31 years at Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, he contributed significantly to business growth and overall institutional development.
Rahman is a certified documentary credit specialist (CDCS) in international trade finance, accredited by the International Chamber of Commerce (Paris) and the Institute of Financial Services. With over three decades of experience in Islamic banking, he also holds the Certified Shari'ah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) fellowship from the Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions.
He completed his BSS and MSS in public administration from the University of Dhaka and later earned a master of Business Administration degree. He also completed DAIBB from the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh, and obtained a diploma in Islamic banking (DIB) from the Islamic Bank Training and Research Academy.
Rahman has participated in professional training programmes, seminars and conferences in several countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.
