Jamaat ameer links govt employees' low salaries to corruption, promises dignified pay structure
Describing Bangladesh as a country that belongs to all its people, Shafiqur said national unity is essential to rebuild the country
Many government employees are driven into illegal activities due to inadequate salaries, while others engage in corruption out of greed, said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman today (30 January).
"We want to ensure a dignified pay scale so that employees can live well with their wives and children," he said while addressing the first of five election rallies in Cumilla at Laksam Stadium.
He also said his party wants to help extortionists by rehabilitating them through dignified employment, stressing that a country plagued by roadside extortion can never become a civilised nation.
"We want to help extortionists. Do not torment people and become cursed. We want to provide you with dignified work."
Describing Bangladesh as a country that belongs to all its people, Shafiqur said national unity is essential to rebuild the country.
