BTTHA 2025 celebrates innovation, leadership in tourism sector
The second edition of the Bangladesh Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Awards (BTTHA) recognised excellence, innovation, and leadership across the country's expanding travel, tourism, and hospitality industries.
The awards highlighted the achievements of organisations and individuals setting benchmarks in service quality and professionalism. The programme was jointly organised by The Bangladesh Monitor and Galaxy Group.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, attended the award presentation ceremony as the chief guest at the InterContinental Dhaka ballroom. The event brought together senior figures from the tourism, hospitality, and business sectors.
Among those who spoke at the event were Ahmed Yusuf Walid, president and chief executive officer of Galaxy Bangladesh Group; Ali Reza Iftekhar, managing director of Eastern Bank PLC; David O'Hanlon, general manager of InterContinental Dhaka; and Kazi Wahidul Alam, editor of The Bangladesh Monitor.
BTTHA 2025 recognised achievements across a wide range of categories within the tourism and hospitality sectors. A total of 27 organisations and eight individuals were honoured in 29 categories.
The Jury's Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Shahid Hamid, chairman of the PATA Bangladesh Chapter, in recognition of his contributions to Bangladesh's hospitality sector over more than five decades.
BTTHA 2025 was officially launched on 25 September, 2025, inviting nominations from prospective candidates. In total, 89 organisations and individuals submitted more than 150 nominations. A jury board comprising industry experts, environmentalists, and representatives from traditional and social media shortlisted nominees across all categories.
To enhance transparency and engagement, shortlisted nominations were opened for public and industry voting online from 11 November to 21 December, 2025, with nearly 20,000 participants taking part. Final selections were made based on nomination quality, voting results, public perception, and on-site evaluations, including property visits and interviews.
"The BTTHA awards are designed to recognise and inspire stakeholders in Bangladesh's tourism and hospitality sector to continuously raise standards of service and professionalism," said Kazi Wahidul Alam.
The programme was supported by Galaxy Group as the lead sponsor, Eastern Bank PLC as the banking partner, InterContinental Dhaka as the hospitality partner, and BuyTickets as the travel partner.
