‘Employers must ensure employees’ post-Covid well-being’

Employers will need to consider how to ensure employees' well-being in the post-Covid period also.

The call came up at a webinar organised by the EMK Center, in association with University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and The Business Standard, on Tuesday.

Titled "Employee well-being and resilience after Covid-19," the webinar was held as part of a month-long campaign titled "Future of Work Post Covid-19: Building a Sustainable Post-Pandemic Future for the Youth."

Speakers at the event also noted that building long-term resilience would require a proactive strategy to protect and support employees while considering how to make bigger transformations that would create long-term value.

Syed Tanvir Husain, chief human resource officer of Grameenphone Ltd, participated in the webinar. Tanvir has been working in the HR Management since 2007. He also led the leadership development in GP.

The session was moderated by Asif Uddin Ahmed, assistant professor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and acting director of EMK Center, Dhaka.

Asif Uddin Ahmed had a panel discussion with Syed Tanvir Husain at the event. They discussed workplace resilience after the pandemic era.

Both of them shared their real life experiences as leaders and how they thought of employee wellbeing. The resilience is created from both sides; employers and employees. The workplaces need to reconstruct the labor policy and ensure the wellbeing of the employees.

Zimran Khan, a young professional from ADB, joined in the discussion. Besides, over 50 young professionals also participated in the webinar.
