BNP will establish rule of law, ensure citizens' rights if voted to power: Salahuddin
Educated unemployed youths will receive an allowance and all citizens will be brought under a comprehensive safety net, pledges BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed.
BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has pledged that the party will establish the rule of law and guarantee citizens' rights in Bangladesh if it comes to power.
Speaking as the chief guest at an election roadside rally organised by the local BNP chapter in Konakhali union of Cox's Bazar's Chakaria upazila this morning (5 December), Salahuddin said the BNP makes promises and keeps them.
"The BNP has sworn that, if elected to form government, the rule of law will be established in the country. We will ensure the civic, fundamental, human, democratic and constitutional rights of all citizens."
The BNP leader, nominated to contest the upcoming election from Cox's Bazar-1, said the BNP aims to create employment for 15 million unemployed youths within one to one and a half years of forming a government.
"Until educated unemployed youths find jobs, they will receive unemployment allowance for a fixed period," he added.
Outlining the party's social security goals, Salahuddin said all citizens will be brought under a comprehensive safety net.
All poor families will receive a "family card," which will allow them to collect essential daily commodities for free, he told the gathering.
This will be a farmers' Bangladesh, an agriculture-friendly Bangladesh, he went on to say.
"Universal healthcare will be ensured. Farmers will receive 'agri-cards' to obtain seeds, fertiliser and other items at fair prices. Agricultural loans will be made available on easy terms."
Salahuddin Ahmed arrived at Cox's Bazar Airport on Tuesday morning (2 December) from Dhaka.
According to party sources, the BNP Standing Committee member will participate in various election campaign programmes in his constituency in Chakaria and Pekua upazilas until Sunday (7 December).
During his visit, he has also provided financial assistance to seven families affected by a recent fire in Magnama, Pekua.
