Railway to resume full services by Sept 16
The services will be resumed in three phases
The Bangladesh Railway has decided to resume operation of all commuter, mail, express and local trains in all routes across the country by September 16.
The services will be resumed in three phases, according to a press release signed by Md Khairul Kabir, deputy director of railway (traffic transportation), on Tuesday.
However, to ensure social distancing, only 50% tickets of the trains' capacity can be sold, reads the press release. Tickets will be available at counters from September 12, the Bangladesh Railway announced.

Of the 50% train tickets, 25% will be sold online and the rest will be available at counters from that time, the statement said. Also, the trains will have to be run following the instructions of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Earlier, Bangladesh Railway partly resumed operation on May 31 after suspension of services for more than two months to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The government on May 29 issued a gazette notification allowing limited operation of public transports and offices from May 31 to June 15 amid the pandemic. Since then, the railway has been resuming its services phase-by-phase.
