BCC receives UN "WSIS-Award-2020" for contribution in ICT

Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) has achieved "World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Award-2020" from the United Nations (UN), for developing an effective e-Recruitment system

BCC received the award at the "WSIS Forum 2020 Prizes Awards Ceremony", which was held online on Monday, said a press release issued by BCC.  

The e-recruitment platform (erecruitment.bcc.gov), created by the Bangladesh National Digital Architecture (BNDA) team of the BGD e-GOV CIRT Capacity Building Project under BCC, received this award under the e-Employment category at the 9th annual WSIS Awards, the release added.

State Minister of ICT Division  Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Senior Secretary of ICT Division  N M Zeaul Alam, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Mr. Parthapratim Deb, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Mr Haolin Zhao, Executive Secretary of the United Nations (UN) Escape Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Mr Catalin Marinescu from the ITU, Ambassador of Dominican Republic Ms Katrina Naut, Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization Fang Liu and many others were present at the online award ceremony.

Hon'ble State Minister of ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak congratulated the Bangladesh Computer Council on this achievement.

The minister said, "I am hopeful that this award from the will inspire everyone to take on more such fruitful and effective initiatives in the future."

The Senior Secretary of ICT Division N M Zeaul Alam thanked the organizers and the award selection committee for bestowing this international honor through the "World Summit on Information Society Award-2020" to BCC.

Zeaul Alam said, "Bangladesh is rapidly improving in the information technology sector. 'Digital Bangladesh' is a dream and Bangladesh has already begun to reap the benefits of this dream. This achievement of BCC is really commendable."

Regarding this achievement, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Parthapratim Deb said, "We are very proud of this international award. The BCC is relentlessly trying to take various initiatives to build a digital Bangladesh."

"This award is a sign of success. The Recruitment Process Management Service has been established in line with the BNDA Framework to enable the BCC to contribute to the Government's Digital Bangladesh initiative," added Parthapratim.

He further said that this award will inspire the people in a new way in the Mujib year and this award is a recognition of Bangladesh standing tall as a global role model in the ICT sector.
