Ali Riaz doesn’t know woman making allegations on social media: CA Press Wing
Professor Riaz has requested the cessation of such statements and warned that legal action may be taken against these defamatory attempts if they continue
The Chief Adviser's Press Wing has denied claims circulating on social media that link Professor Ali Riaz, special assistant to the chief adviser, to a woman spreading a video statement about him.
"Professor Riaz does not know the woman and the video is false, fabricated, and baseless," the press wing said in a statement today (26 November).
According to the statement, the woman named Atandranu Ripa has been attempting to defame Professor Riaz on social media since Tuesday.
"Professor Ali Riaz has no connection with the woman spreading this video. Any claims suggesting otherwise are completely false and appear to have been deliberately propagated," the statement said.
It added that Professor Riaz has requested the cessation of such statements and warned that legal action may be taken against these defamatory attempts if they continue.
Professor Ali Riaz is a distinguished scholar in the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University, USA. Following last year's Mass Uprising, he was appointed head of the Constitutional Reform Commission by the interim government, one of six reform commissions formed during that period.
In February this year, he was made vice-chairman of the National Consensus Commission.
Later on 13 November, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus appointed Prof Riazas his special assistant with the rank and status of an adviser.
