Coast guard, police conduct joint drive against wildlife poaching
The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 32 kilograms of deer meat, two heads, eight legs, and about 2,000 metres of hunting traps during a joint operation in the Kaninagar area under Mongla Police Station of Bagerhat.
The operation was conducted around 1am on Wednesday based on secret information, in coordination with the Mongla Police. During the raid, one suspected poacher was arrested from the spot.
The seized deer meat, body parts, traps, and the detainee have been handed over to Mongla Police Station for further legal action.
Confirming the matter, Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Hoque, Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, said, "The Coast Guard will continue such drives in the future to prevent wildlife poaching and trafficking."
