Standard Bank holds workshop on shari’ah compliance
Standard Bank PLC organised a workshop titled Shari'ah Compliance in Banking Operations on 25 November 2025 at the Bank's Head Office.
Dr Muhammad Saifullah, Chairman of the Bank's Shari'ah Supervisory Committee, attended as chief guest. Professor Dr Zubair Mohammad Ehsanul Haque, Member-Secretary of the Shari'ah Supervisory Committee, was present as special guest.
In his remarks, Dr Saifullah emphasised the importance of ethical values and upright conduct in Islamic banking. Professor Haque highlighted the need for rigorous adherence to Shari'ah principles in the Bank's operational activities.
The workshop was conducted by Md Siddiqur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank. K M Rahmatullah, CSAA and Head of the Shari'ah Secretariat Division, presented the Shari'ah compliance report of the Bank's branches.
Murakebs from the Shari'ah Secretariat Division, along with executives and officers from various Head Office divisions, took part in the workshop. Heads, Deputy Heads, and Investment In-charges of different branches also joined the session virtually.
