5-member committee formed to probe Korail slum fire

The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) has formed a five-member committee to probe the devastating fire at Korail slum in the capital's Tejgaon area.

Five members of the committee are FSCD deputy director (operation and maintenance) Md Mamunur Rashid, assistant director, Dhaka, Kazi Nazmuzzaman, deputy assistant director Atish Chakma, senior station officer, Tejgaon, Md Nazim Uddin Sarker and warehouse inspector Md Sohrab Hossain.
The committee has been tasked with finding out the cause behind the fire and ascertaining the losses caused by the blaze.
The fire that broke out in the Korail Slum in the capital's Tejgaon area was fully doused around 9:30am today after 16 hours of strenuous efforts, FSCD officials said.
Earlier yesterday, 19 firefighting units with five hours of effort brought the fire under control at 10:35pm.
The fire started at 5:22pm. No casualties have been reported so far.
