A Dhaka court today placed Kalabagan Krira Chakra President Shafiqul Alam Firoz on 10-day remand in two cases filed for possessing illegal arms and drugs.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhter granted the remand when he was produced before the court with 20-day remand plea, said General Recording Officer and Sub-Inspector Md Nizamuddin.

On September 20, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Firoz in a raid at the club in Dhaka's Dhanmandi as part of the government's drive against illegal casinos. Gambling chips, foreign pistols, 572 packets of playing cards, yellow yaba tablets and other casino material were also confiscated during the drive. Later, members of RAB-2 taken Shafiqul Alam Firoz took into custody for questioning.
