Police headquarters to take departmental action against involved officials
Bangladesh police headquarters will take departmental action against those police personnel, found guilty of irregularities and corruption in different police projects.
Recently, the police headquarters has sent a letter to the superintendents of police in all districts and unit chiefs, seeking explanation for irregularities in different police projects. The letter was issued by Abu Hasan, assistant inspector general of police at the repair and maintenance department.
The letter says, many police projects in 2018-19 fiscal was not implemented according to the plan.

In many cases, contractor appointed for implementation of a project took the entire amount, allocated for the project, with the work on the project remaining half done. Some projects are completed, but the work seems to be of poor quality and substandard.
Abu Hasan said, the police headquarters will seek explanation for these irregularities in police project, while adding that if anyone is found guilty in the investigation, stern actions will be taken against the concerned individual.
"Several investigations are going on regarding these irregularities. The probe body will investigate whether irregularities occurred intentionally, or owing to the lack of supervision," he said.
Earlier, on September 9, The Business Standard published a report: A piece of tin-sheet now costs Tk1 lakh.
According to the report, the cost of a piece of tin-sheet was shown Tk1 lakh, 100 times more than the current market price of a tin-sheet, in the Armed Police Battalion-6 renovation project in Khagrachhari, allegedly embezzling Tk71 lakh from the project.
Mishu Enterprise, the contracting firm engaged for implementation of the project, spent Tk14 lakh only on two bundles of tin-sheets.
Besides, the fund, allocated for the 10 renovation projects of the Armed Police Battalion-6, was taken away by the project contractors within 20 days from the commencement of the project work, the contractors saying that they completed all of the projects.
In connection with the irregularities in the 10 renovation projects, allegations have been made against Mahbub Hasan, former Armed Police Battalion-6 battalion commander and now superintendent of police of Madaripur.
