Woman among 2 killed in road crash in Faridpur
According to a UNB report, Farzana Begum's one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Jannatul, was critically hurt and referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment
Two people, including a woman, were killed and five others were injured in a road accident involving a bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Faridpur's Bhanga Upazila in the early hours of today (24 October).
The deceased were identified as Farzana Begum, 40, from Pabna district and Minhajul Rahman Sakib, 24, from Magura district.
The accident occurred around 3am in the Tarail area of Bhanga. According to Shibchar Highway Police and eyewitnesses, a Satkhira-bound Jamuna Line bus was driving recklessly and collided with an unidentified vehicle, severely damaging the front of the bus.
The incident took a fatal turn shortly after the bus passengers disembarked and stood in front. A truck, travelling in the same lane, subsequently rammed into the rear of the stationary bus. The impact instantly killed one person at the scene and left six others seriously injured.
The injured were rushed to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor declared a female passenger dead.
Shibchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Zahurul Islam confirmed the incident, stating that both the bus and the truck have been seized from the site. Legal action regarding the incident is currently underway.
