Asaduzzaman Noor denied bail in ACC graft case
The ACC said investigations revealed suspicious transactions worth Tk158.78 crore through 19 bank accounts under his name

A Dhaka court has denied bail to former Cultural Affairs minister and actor Asaduzzaman Noor in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over amassing wealth beyond known sources of income.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz gave the order today (12 October) after hearing arguments from both sides.
State prosecutor Azizul Haque Didar confirmed the court's decision, stating, "The defense argued for bail, but the prosecution opposed it. After the hearing, the court rejected the bail plea."

According to the case statement, Noor allegedly abused his power to acquire assets worth Tk5.37 crore illegally.
The ACC said investigations revealed suspicious transactions worth Tk158.78 crore through 19 bank accounts under his name, involving transfer, conversion, and handling of money, which violate the Anti-Money Laundering Act and ACC regulations.
The case further alleges that Tk85.72 crore was deposited and Tk73.05 crore withdrawn from Noor's accounts, with the sources of these transactions remaining "unexplained".
Noor was arrested on 15 September 2024 in a case filed over a murder during the July Uprising and has been in jail since.
