Formal charges filed against ex-BGB officer Redwanul, 3 others for crimes against humanity during July Uprising

Formal charges have been filed against former Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officer Lt Col Redwanul Islam and three others in connection with crimes against humanity during July Uprising protests in Rampura, Dhaka, where 28 people were killed in law enforcement firing.
The charges were submitted to the International Crimes Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, today (8 October) by Prosecutor Faruk Ahmed on behalf of the prosecution.
The tribunal also issued arrest warrants against the accused.
The other accused are – BGB officer Major Md Rafat Bin Alam Mun, former additional deputy commissioner of the DMP's Khilgaon Division Md Rashedul Islam, and former officer-in-charge (OC) of Rampura Police Station Md Moshior Rahman.
According to the case documents, widespread killings took place across the country during the July Uprising, with 28 people being shot dead in Rampura alone and many others injured.
Eyewitness accounts and video footage reportedly showed Lt Col Redwanul Islam firing directly at protesters in Rampura. The other accused were allegedly in commanding roles during the massacre.
Following a detailed investigation by the probe agency, a formal charge sheet was submitted to the tribunal against the four accused.
