Brig Gen Shamsur Rahman’s NID blocked, travel ban imposed
He is accused of amassing significant movable and immovable assets, both in Bangladesh and abroad

A Dhaka court has ordered the suspension of the National Identity Card (NID) of Brigadier General (rtd) Shamsur Rahman, who is facing allegations of acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income through corruption, irregularities, and abuse of power.
The court has also imposed a ban on his leaving the country.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Foyez issued the order today (7 October), following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the commission's Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam confirmed the development.
The petition, submitted by ACC Deputy Director Alamgir Hossain, sought both the blocking of Rahman's NID and a restriction on his foreign travel.
According to the application, Shamsur Rahman is accused of amassing significant movable and immovable assets, both in Bangladesh and abroad, in the names of himself and his family members.
Intelligence sources further indicated that attempts were being made to transfer or dispose of these illegally obtained assets.
The petition argued that blocking Rahman's NID and preventing him from leaving the country were essential to stop the transfer of assets linked to the allegations and to preserve evidence of his alleged criminal activities.
