India or fascist elements inciting Khagrachhari violence: Home adviser
The home adviser added that the group is also trying to create chaos across the country so that the ongoing Durga Puja, which began yesterday, could not be celebrated peacefully and safely
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that a certain quarter is trying to create an unstable situation in Khagrachhari, allegedly instigated by India or fascist elements.
"We are mobilising our maximum efforts so that no one can create further unrest in Khagrachhari," he said while inaugurating the construction of administrative-cum-barrack buildings for five police stations under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at the Old Ramna Thana Complex in the capital, reports BSS.
The Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) adviser had held meetings with local leaders and law enforcement agencies to ensure a stable situation in Khagrachhari.
Three people were killed and several others, including police and military personnel, were injured in recent unrest in the district.
The home adviser added that the group is also trying to create chaos across the country so that the ongoing Durga Puja, which began yesterday, could not be celebrated peacefully and safely.
He called for cooperation from all to restore normalcy in Khagrachhari and ensure safe celebrations of Durga Puja.
Turning to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, he said the force has 50 police stations, half of which are in rented premises. "We are working to shift all police stations into their own buildings," he added.
