Sohel Taj stopped at Dhaka airport while leaving country due to 'travel ban'
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard today (26 September), Taj’s sister, Mahjabin Ahmad Mimi, said, “He was barred from leaving the country possibly on Wednesday.”

Former state minister for home affairs Sohel Taj was stopped by the immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, preventing him from boarding a flight to the United States.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard today (26 September), Taj's sister, Mahjabin Ahmad Mimi, said, "He was barred from leaving the country possibly on Wednesday."
When asked about why he was stopped, she said, "You should ask them [immigration]."
Mimi was unwilling to provide any further details.
Meanwhile, the airport's special security (immigration) authorities said that Sohel Taj was unable to leave the country due to a "travel ban" order in place against him.
Sohel Taj, the youngest son of Bangladesh's first prime minister, Tajuddin Ahmad, was elected a member of parliament from Gazipur-4 (Kapasia) in the 2001 national election.
He was re-elected from the same constituency in 2008.
On 6 January 2009, he was appointed state minister for home affairs in the Awami League-led cabinet.
On 31 May of the same year, he resigned from the cabinet citing "personal reasons."
On 23 April 2012, Taj also resigned from his parliamentary seat. However, since it was not accepted at the time due to procedural reasons, he submitted his resignation again on 7 July, which was then accepted.
