BOU opens sub-regional centre in bagerhat’s coastal belt

The Bangladesh Open University (BOU) has established a Sub-Regional Centre (SRC) at Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat to expand educational access in the coastal belt.
Professor ABM Obaidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of BOU, formally opened the centre on Saturday. He explained that the initiative will help coastal students access modern curricula, technical and vocational programmes, and ICT-based education. BOU is reducing programme fees to promote equal access.
Additional DIG of Police (Khulna Range) Sheikh Joynuddin, PPM, and Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Md Asaduzzaman attended as special guests. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Dil Rowshan Zinnat Ara Nazneen, BOU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
BOU Treasurer Professor Abul Hasnat Md Shamim, Registrar Professor Anisur Rahman, deans, directors, faculty, local dignitaries, students, and community representatives also attended. After the ceremony, guests toured the new centre and discussed its impact with teachers, students, and residents.
