The extension is effective immediately
The interim government has extended the tenure of the National Consensus Commission by one month, now ending on 15 October.
A notification in this regard, signed by Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid, was issued today (15 September).
The extension is effective immediately.
The seven-member commission was formed on 12 February and was given six months to review and adopt recommendations from six reform commissions.
The commission officially started work on 15 February, and its original tenure was set to expire on 15 August. Since the commission's work was not completed, the government extended the term until 15 September. Now, its term has been extended until 15 October.
The commission has been engaging with political parties and other forces to reach a national consensus on the adoption of reforms in public administration, police operations, elections, the judiciary, and anti-corruption measures ahead of the upcoming national election.
