DU suspends all academic activities for 15 days following earthquake scare
Students asked to leave halls by 5pm Sunday
Following two consecutive days of earthquakes, the Dhaka University administration has announced a 15-day closure of all academic activities to inspect and repair halls and ensure structural safety.
In a press release issued by the university's Public Relations Office, the university also instructed students to vacate their residential halls by 5pm on Sunday (23 November).
This decision was taken at an emergency syndicate meeting tonight (22 November).
Earlier in the evening, the DU administration had suspended all classes and examinations scheduled for Sunday.
"The university administration has decided to suspend all classes and examinations scheduled for tomorrow due to injuries caused by the recent earthquakes and the heightened sense of fear among students and teachers," said a notice issued by the Office of the Controller of Examinations.
New dates for the postponed examinations will be announced later, the notice added.
Later, the decision was revised and the university suspended all academic activities till 6 December.
