The Bangladesh Army has unearthed a local arms manufacturing factory in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram, detaining four people along with a cache of weapons and ammunition.
Acting on specific intelligence, an army team carried out a raid in the Chinnamul area of Salimpur union this morning (30 August), the Bangladesh Army said in a press release.
During the raid, the team seized six locally-made firearms, 35 empty cartridges, five fresh rounds, one Chinese axe, 20 knives, two walkie-talkie chargers, a megaphone, four parachute flares, and a variety of tools and equipment used for producing weapons.
The four detainees, identified as suspected members of an armed group, are being handed over to the local police station for further legal action, the release added.
The army reiterated that it remains committed to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region, vowing to continue such drives against terrorism and illegal arms.
