EC launches YouTube channel to enhance electoral transparency
The CEC called on everyone to join the fight against "misinformation"

The Election Commission (EC) has launched its official YouTube channel, which will provide reliable, detailed, and easy-to-understand information on elections.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the channel today (21 August), stating that its purpose is to bolster public trust and transparency in the electoral system.
"Transparency in the electoral process is crucial for a free, fair, and credible election," the CEC said in a message to the nation via the YouTube channel.
"We want to present our information to the people in a detailed, clear, and credible manner to strengthen public trust and our transparency," he said.
The CEC also called on everyone to join the fight against "misinformation," particularly the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) and the spread of fake videos on social media.
"I appeal to you to please verify any information before you believe it," he said. "Do not believe and share it the moment you receive it. Please verify it first, and only then believe it."
He added, "We, on behalf of the Election Commission, call on everyone to collaborate with us in tackling the efforts to spread falsehoods on social media.
"We want the people of the country to join us in this effort," the CEC urged.
The newly-launched channel will feature a range of content, including information on voter registration, election schedules, candidate instructions, and the duties and responsibilities of voters.
According to the CEC, the primary focus will be on engaging women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalised communities to enable them to consciously contribute to the country's democratic process.
In addition to the YouTube channel, the CEC also announced that the public can find accurate information related to elections on the Bangladesh Election Commission Secretariat's official Facebook page.
