Ducsu polls: Umama Fatema's 'Swatantra Shikkharthi Oikyo' panel announced

Umama Fatema, former spokesperson for the Students Against Discrimination (SAD), has officially announced her independent panel for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election.

The panel, named 'Swatantra Shikkharthi Oikyo' (Independent Students' Unity), was formally unveiled at the base of the Aparajeyo Bangla sculpture at Dhaka University today (21 August) at 4:00pm.
In the newly announced panel, Umama Fatema will be running for the vice president (VP) position.
Al Sadi Bhuiyan has been nominated for the general secretary (GS) post, and Zahed Hossain will contest for the assistant general secretary (AGS) position.
The panel also includes candidates for various other editorial roles.
Numan Ahmad Chowdhury is the candidate for Liberation War and Democratic Movement secretary, Mominul Islam for Science and Technology secretary, Surmi Chakma for Common Room, Reading Room, and Cafeteria secretary, and Nafiz Bashar (Alif) for International Affairs secretary.
According to data from the Ducsu and Hall Sangsad Election Commission, a total of 509 nomination papers were submitted for the 28 Ducsu posts. This is out of 658 forms that were sold, with 149 going unsubmitted.
For the Hall Sangsad elections, a total of 1,109 nomination forms were submitted out of 1,427 sold.
On 18 August, the former SAD spokesperson announced the formation of her independent panel to contest the Ducsu election.
She collected her nomination form that day and said, "We will announce a student-friendly Ducsu panel."
