Square Agrovet initiative aims to increase local fish production

Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Agrovet and Crop Care Division) has released 260,000 fingerlings of indigenous fish species at the Sadullapur Kol fish sanctuary in Pabna Sadar upazila to enhance fish production in open waterbodies.
The programme was inaugurated by District Fisheries Officer Dipak Kumar Pal and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Naharul Islam. Also present were Md Omar Ali, senior assistant director of the Department of Fisheries; Md Abdul Halim, upazila fisheries officer; and Jayanta Dutta Gupta, general manager of Square Agrovet and Crop Care Division.
Speakers at the event said releasing native species such as baim, shing, magur, tengra, and gulsha would help conserve biodiversity while supporting nutritional security and the livelihoods of fishing communities.
The initiative is part of Square Pharmaceuticals' ongoing efforts to promote sustainable aquaculture and ensure the long-term availability of local fish species.
