Hasina ordered ‘no release, no treatment’ for July Uprising victims, witness tells ICT
He recounted that their ambulance was stopped in front of the residence of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and one person from the vehicle was arrested

Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina allegedly issued a "no release, no treatment" order for those injured during the July movement, according to the testimony of the second witness in the ongoing crimes against humanity case filed against her.
The witness, Abdullah Al Imran, gave his statement today (4 August), revealing that the directive of not giving release from the hospital and not providing proper treatment led to medical negligence in his treatment.
Imran, a student of Dhaka College, told the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) that after being shot in the leg near the water tank in Bijoynagar on 19 July, he sought treatment from several hospitals before finally being admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (commonly known as the National Orthopaedic Hospital).
He added that despite requesting a transfer to another hospital for better treatment, he was denied discharge.
On the way to the hospital, Imran recounted that their ambulance was stopped in front of the residence of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and one person from the vehicle was arrested.
Towards the end of his testimony, Imran held Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and then-police chief responsible for the condition of his life.
Notably, former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, who has become a state witness in the case was present in the courtroom during Imran's statement.
Yesterday (3 August), the first witness in the case, Khokon Chandra Barman, 23, who was also injured in the protests, gave his testimony.
He said that police opened fire like they were shooting birds in the Jatrabari area.
"Those responsible for killing thousands of people include Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and ex-MP Shamim Osman. I want justice for their actions. Only then will the souls of the martyrs find peace," he added.
