8 sentenced to jail, fined Tk4 lakh for illegal soil cutting in Munshiganj
In addition to the jail time, the offenders have been collectively fined Tk4,04,000.
Eight individuals have been sent to jail and fined over Tk4 lakh for illegal soil cutting and sand filling in the Alampur Ghat and Arial Beel areas of Hasara union under Munshiganj's Srinagar upazila.
Four of the accused have been sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment each, while the remaining four received 15-day jail terms in a mobile court operation, led by the local administration today (25 July), conducted under the Land Crime Prevention and Remedy Act, 2023.
In addition to the jail time, the offenders have been collectively fined Tk4,04,000.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Srinagar upazila, Golam Rabbani Sohel, said, "The operations against illegal soil cutting, dredging and sand filling will continue across Srinagar, including the Arial Beel area. More actions will be taken in the future if necessary."
