An impounded bus caught fire near Karimpur Highway Police Station in Faridpur Sadar upazila late last night (19 July), with the cause of the blaze yet to be confirmed.

The fire was quickly brought under control after the Faridpur Fire Service responded to the scene. No injuries were reported, as the bus was empty at the time.

The bus, which had been seized in connection with a road accident, was parked about 150 yards west of the Karimpur Highway Police Station, on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kanaipur Union.

According to Md Salauddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Karimpur Highway Police Station, the RSF Paribahan bus was impounded following an accident in Madhukhali upazila before Eid-ul-Adha last month.

"The bus was kept on the roadside, and it was being looked after by people assigned by the owner. They had not been seen in the area since Saturday noon. Around 12am, we were informed that the bus had caught fire," said the OC.

The police have not yet confirmed whether the fire was accidental or deliberately set.
