Central leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP), led by party Convener Nahid Islam, arrived in Faridpur this afternoon (17 July) amid heightened security to attend the party's scheduled daylong programme.

Upon arrival, the NCP members took position at the Faridpur Circuit House.

From there, they are expected to begin a march towards the Janata Bank intersection to join a street rally.

Although the programme was initially set to begin at 11am, it started around 1:30pm due to timing adjustments.

According to Syeda Nilima Dola, the party's Faridpur coordinator, the programme includes a gathering at the Circuit House, followed by the rally, and will conclude with the inauguration of the party's local office, a meeting with families of martyrs, and a visit to their graves.

Party activists have been campaigning over the past few days to mobilise support for the event, while law enforcement agencies remain on high alert to ensure security.
