A Faridpur court has sentenced a man to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment for attempting to rape a madrasah student in Nagarkanda.

Judge Shamima Parvin of the Faridpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal delivered the verdict this afternoon (23 September).

Miraj was later taken to jail under police escort.
Confirming the verdict, Public Prosecutor Golam Rabbani Bhuiyan Ratan said the charges against Miraj Sheikh were proved beyond reasonable doubt, leading the court to hand down the sentence. "The prosecution was satisfied with the verdict."
According to the case statement, the incident took place around noon on 28 August 2023, when the child was playing in front of the accused's house.
The accused lured the child into his room and attempted to rape her against her will. The victim's father later filed a case with Nagarkanda Police Station.
