NU signs deal with unicef for education reform, skill development

The National University (NU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNICEF to enhance the quality and relevance of higher education, particularly through curriculum reform and skill development.
The signing ceremony was held at UNICEF's Bangladesh Country Office in Agargaon, Dhaka.
As the country's largest affiliating university, NU has recently initiated a series of reforms aimed at modernising academic standards and increasing the employability of its graduates. This strategic partnership with UNICEF is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming the teaching and learning process across its vast network of affiliated colleges.
Speaking at the event, NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah said, "In the light of UNICEF's concept of micro-credential learning, National University is now adapting its syllabi to meet the evolving needs of both domestic and global job markets. This is a significant milestone for us as we align education with employability."
The MoU outlines collaboration in key areas including ICT and soft skills training, teacher development, mental health awareness, and fostering stronger industry engagement. These initiatives aim to prepare students not just academically, but also professionally and psychologically for the challenges of a competitive workforce.
Professor Dr Amanullah and UNICEF Bangladesh's Officer-in-Charge and Country Representative, Farook Adrian Doomun, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
NU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Lutfor Rahaman, Treasurer Prof Dr ATM Zafrul Azam, and officials from the Centre for Curriculum Development & Evaluation were present at the ceremony, along with senior UNICEF representatives.
This partnership marks a significant step forward in Bangladesh's efforts to reorient higher education towards real-world relevance, enabling future graduates to build the skills and resilience necessary for meaningful careers.
