The body of a 15-year-old madrasa student was exhumed today (14 July) from a graveyard 21 days after his burial in the Lohagara area of Chattogram.

Body of the victim, Tasnimul Hasan Sajid, was exhumed in the presence of the executive magistrate and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem following a court directive, said Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Arifur Rahman.

"The report will reveal the true cause of death," confirmed OC Arifur.

The exhumation took place for a post-mortem examination to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death after his father alleged his son was raped and murdered.

The exhumation occurred at around 10:30am in the graveyard adjacent to the Sowari Bar Jame Mosque in Satgaria Para, Ward No 3, Lohagara Sadar Union.

The process was supervised by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Nazmun Layel and the case's investigating officer Abbas Uddin of Chunati Police Outpost.

Sajid's body was found in a field near the Shariat Ullah Jame Mosque in Satgaria Para at around 4:00pm on 24 June.

Locals rushed him to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead while visible injury marks were found on several parts of his body.

Initially, the incident was reported as a death due to electrocution, and Sajid's body was buried.

However, his father, Md Mainuddin Azad, 35, claimed Sajid was murdered.

On 1 July, Azad filed a case with the Chattogram Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, naming two individuals as accused.

The court accepted the complaint and directed the Lohagara Police Station to register it as a First Information Report (FIR).

The primary accused is Nasir Uddin, 37. He was Sajid's Arabic teacher and the muezzin of the local mosque. The second accused is Sajid's maternal grandfather, Abul Hossain, 55.

According to the FIR, Sajid lived with his mother at Abul Hossain's house due to his parents' separation. He studied in the 6th grade at Adhunagar Islamia Kamil Madrasa.

Sajid also took Arabic lessons from Nasir Uddin in a room next to the mosque.

On 24 June, at around 3:00 pm, Sajid went for his usual Arabic lessons.

At approximately 4:30pm, Nasir called Sajid's mother, claiming the boy had been electrocuted.

However, the dead body was later found in a nearby field by local residents.

Further details from the FIR reveal that Nasir attempted to flee the scene but was briefly detained by locals. With assistance from Abul Hossain, he managed to escape.

Meanwhile, Azad alleged that Nasir sexually assaulted Sajid, struck him on the head with an iron rod and smothered him with a pillow to ensure his death.

The father noted that there were no signs of electrocution on his son's body, and the distance between the spot where the body was recovered from and any electrical wires was significant.

He also alleged that Abul Hossain attempted to protect Nasir in exchange for a large sum of money and rushed the burial without a post-mortem to cover up evidence of a planned murder.
