Conspiracies are being hatched at international level for rehabilitation of the Awami League, and managing a spot for the party in the next parliamentary elections, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary-General Mia Golam Parwar said today (10 July).

"There is a scheme in place to establish international connections for Bangladesh through several philosophies that seek to rehabilitate the Awami League," Parwar said at a discussion on the roles of journalists in the 2024 mass uprising, at Jatiya Press Club orgnaised by the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).

The Jamaat leader also urged caution among the political parties against potential reemergence of any fascist force in the country.

Commenting on reform proposals and upcoming election, the Jamaat leader said, "Various controversies have surfaced among political parties concerning the reforms. While political parties may address different topics, this does not suggest that the party is against the elections or aims to delay them."

He said though Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has fled the country, the perpetrators of fascism are lurking in the country's administration, judiciary, police, and constitutional institutions. "Fascism has not disappeared from the country despite the removal of a fascist leader."

Parwar said those who cherish the ideology of fascism continue to exist within the country, posing the greatest challenge to the creation of a "New Bangladesh."

Pointing at the followers of the fallen Awami League regime and its tie with India, the Jamaat leader said plots are still ongoing to disrupt the country's business environment, political stability, international policies, and diplomatic relations, as well public aspirations in the upcoming elections.

He highlighted that an evil force is consistently creating obstacles in the pursuit of a fair electoral process after the mass uprising, and urged vigilance against the force.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member AZM Zahid Hossain, BNP chairperson's Adviser Abdus Salam, Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Jamaat's Assistant Secretary-General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Press Club President Hasan Hafiz, BFUJ Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury, DUJ President Shahidul Islam and Secretary General Khurshid Alam, among others, were present at the event.
