Incessant rain damages Langalbandh Bridge, triggers 13km tailback on Dhaka-Ctg highway
Kanchpur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Kazi Wahid Morshed confirmed that the Langalbandh Bridge’s poor condition was to blame

Persistent rainfall has damaged parts of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and the Langalbandh Bridge in Narayanganj, creating deep potholes that caused severe traffic congestion today (10 July).
The tailback, which began around 10pm yesterday, stretched over 13 kilometres from Narayanganj's Sonargaon to Baluakandi in Gazaria by today morning. Traffic began to ease around 11:20am.
Commuters faced hours-long delays.
"I have an exam today, but I had to walk after getting stuck in traffic," said college student Rifat Hossain near Vaberchar in Munshiganj.
Khokon Mia, who was on his way to office, said, "I left at 8am for a 10:30am meeting in Dhaka. It's 10 now, and I'm still stuck on Meghna Bridge."
Gazaria Highway Police Outpost In-charge Md Shawkat Hossain said the jam started in Sonargaon and spread to Gazaria while Kanchpur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Kazi Wahid Morshed confirmed that the Langalbandh Bridge's poor condition was to blame.
Repair work is underway, and police are on site to manage traffic, said Morshed.
