A Dhaka court today (9 July) ordered to confiscate two houses of ex-minister and former lawmaker from Rajbari-2 constituency Zillul Hakim in the capital and Rajbari district.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order upon an application of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The houses which were ordered to seize are - a six-storey building on five kathas of land in Uttara Model Town in the capital and three-storey building on 80.35 decimal of land in Rajbari district.

Assistant Director (Public Relations) of the ACC Tanzil Ahmed informed the media of the matter.

In the petition, it was alleged that cases were filed against Zillul Hakim on charges of amassing illegal wealth beyond known sources of income. He acquired illegal properties in different areas including Dhaka and Rajbari district.

"Investigation is now going on into the matters. It is necessary to confiscate the properties under sections 10 and 14 of the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2012 and Section 18 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Rules 2007," the petition said.
