Sweden to provide Tk6.16 crore to Bangladesh as grant for natural resource management
The implementation period spans from July 2025 to December 2026

A grant agreement has been signed between the Government of Bangladesh and the Government of Sweden for a project titled "Strengthening Capacity of MoEFCC, DoE and BFD for Natural Resource Management and Improved Climate Resilience".
According to a press release issued today (3 July), through this agreement, Sweden will provide 4.9 million SEK (Tk6.16 crore approximately) as a grant.
The overall objective of the project is to strengthen Bangladesh's institutional and strategic capacity to safeguard biodiversity and natural resources by linking conservation efforts with broader climate objectives, enhancing monitoring and enforcement frameworks for Ecologically Critical Areas (ECAs), and preparing for the establishment of a dedicated wildlife trust fund to ensure sustainable financing, adds the release.
The implementation period spans from July 2025 to December 2026.
The agreement was signed by Dr AKM Shahabuddin, secretary (in charge), Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance and Maria Stridsman, chargé d'affaires and head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka on behalf of each Government.
Besides, high officials of Economic Relations Division, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka were present in the signing ceremony.
