IUB signs MoU with Nepal’s Far Western University

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Far Western University (FWU) in Nepal to bolster academic collaboration and foster joint initiatives in research, education, and student engagement.
The five-year MoU was signed on 23 June 2025 at Kathmandu, Nepal. IUB Vice Chancellor Prof M Tamim signed on behalf of IUB, while Prof Dr Hem Raj Pant, Vice Chancellor of FWU, represented the Nepali institution.
Joining the IUB delegation were Dr Kamran ul Baset, Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Public Health, and Prof Dr Md Hafizur Rahman, Head of the Department of Environmental Science and Management.
On behalf of FWU, the signing was attended by Prof Dr Binod Lekhak, Registrar; Prof Dr Kishan Datta Bhatta, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof Dr Rajendra Prasad Bhatt, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science; Associate Prof Harikrishna Kadayet, Member of the Executive Council; Assistant Prof Prakash Pant, Secretary to the Vice Chancellor; Mr Meen Raj Bhatt and Mr Nabin Bahadur Bam, administrative staff members.
The agreement outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration, including student mobility initiatives such as semester-abroad programmes, articulation, and internships. It also covers faculty and staff exchanges, joint supervision of postgraduate research, co-hosting of academic events, and co-publication of scholarly work.
Both institutions have expressed interest in raising awareness of each other's academic offerings and exploring cultural exchange programmes to deepen mutual understanding. Designated representatives from both universities will oversee the implementation of the agreement.
