1 July: Govt, political parties to hold events throughout today
A month-long programme titled "July Remembrance Programmes" organised by the interim government begins today
To commemorate the July uprising, the interim government and political parties are scheduled to hold some events today (1 July).
This day in 2024 was when the protests first broke out against the High Court's 5 June decision to reinstate the quota system.
The movement that first started as a peaceful one turned violent as police cracked down on the protesters, and eventually turned into a mass uprising that ended with the toppling of the Awami League regime.

Interim govt's programmes
A month-long programme titled "July Remembrance Programmes" organised by the interim government begins today.
According to the announced programme schedule, prayers will be offered today in memory of the martyrs at mosques, temples, pagodas, churches, and other religious places.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will inaugurate the July Calendar at the Chief Adviser's Office in the capital's Tejgaon.
July calendars will be distributed today, and a mass signature campaign demanding justice for the killers in the July massacre will be launched.
This campaign will continue until 1 August. On this day, a National University scholarship programme will be launched in memory of the July martyrs.
BNP event
BNP has announced programmes from 1 July to 6 August.
Today, the party will hold a discussion with political parties and families of the martyred, and those injured during the July Mass Uprising at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC).
NCP's road march
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced that it will commemorate July with a month-long road march.
The programme titled "July Road March to Build the Nation" begins today with a visit to the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayed in Rangpur.
Jamaat's prayer event for July martyrs, injured
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will hold a prayer event for the July martyrs and injured at its Puran Paltan office. Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, the party's naib-e-ameer, will be the chief guest at the event.
Gono Odhikar Parishad's discussion programme
Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, General Secretary Md Rashed Khan, and others will attend a discussion titled "Quota Reform Movement to State Reform (2018-2024)" at the Dhaka Reporters Unity at 11am today.
