Cricket to be expanded more through decentralisation: BCB president

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul announced plans to decentralise cricket, aiming to expand its reach nationwide.
Speaking to journalists after inaugurating a cricket competition at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium today (22 June), the BCB president stated that first-class cricket, currently played sporadically in Rajshahi, will see increased activity.
The BCB will launch a Premier League in the greater Rajshahi region and bolster cricket training programmes, he added.

Bulbul also mentioned converting existing age-group cricket (Under-14, Under-16, Under-18) in the area into two-day matches.
Discussing the future of Test cricket in Bangladesh, he said, "We want to take Test cricket forward. We are seeing it as a launchpad."
Regarding decentralisation, Bulbul said, "We will work intensively so that more talented cricketers emerge from different regions and find opportunities in the national team."
Expressing satisfaction with the current infrastructure at Rajshahi Stadium, he said many countries lack such quality outfields and wickets.
"If we can replicate this kind of facility across the country, high-quality grounds will naturally emerge," he said.
