Khelafat Majlis urges EC to announce specific February election date

The central executive council of Khelafat Majlis has called for the Election Commission to announce a clear and specific date for the upcoming national election in February, following consultations with all political parties.

During its meeting, party leaders welcomed the commitment made by the chief adviser during his recent London visit to hold national polls in the first half of February 2026.

They noted that this announcement has significantly reduced political uncertainty and instability in the country.

Khelafat Majlis emphasised that further discussions with all political stakeholders should be held promptly, after which the Election Commission must formally declare an exact date.

The party also called for the finalisation of the July Charter, stressing the importance of ensuring equal political footing for all parties backing the transitional framework.

Leaders demanded that essential reforms be implemented and justice expedited against those responsible for fascist actions prior to the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

A fair and credible electoral environment must be ensured, they added.
