Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus began the second day of his official visit to the United Kingdom today (11 June) with a meeting with the country's National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell.

The meeting was scheduled to conclude at 9:30am (London time), reports UNB.

Later in the day, the chief adviser is scheduled to meet Ben Bland, the director of the Asia-Pacific Programme and Dr Chietigj Bajpaee, senior research fellow for South Asia at Chatham House.

As part of his public diplomacy efforts, he will also deliver an address at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), according to the Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.

Yunus is expected to deliver his address at the Main Hall of Chatham House between 11am -12pm London time, reports BSS.

The session will be recorded, live-streamed, and partially open to media, according to the programme schedule of the chief adviser.

In the afternoon, Yunus will attend a reception to be hosted by Chatham House in his honour.

He is also expected to join a dinner hosted by His Majesty King Charles III on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of The King's Foundation. The event will be held at St James's Palace in London.

In a significant recognition of his global contributions, Yunus has been nominated by King Charles III for the "King Charles III Harmony Award 2025", honouring his lifelong work to promote peace, sustainability, and harmony between people and the environment.

The award will be conferred at a formal ceremony at St James's Palace in London on 12 June, reports BSS.

Established in 1990, The King's Foundation, a UK-based charity founded by then Prince of Wales, bestows the prestigious award annually on individuals with exemplary achievements in sustainable development and humanitarian causes.

Yunus arrived in London on Tuesday, beginning a four-day official visit aimed at renewing bilateral ties with the UK, with a particular focus on strengthening economic cooperation, trade, and investment.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Abida Islam received the chief adviser upon his arrival at Heathrow Airport.

"This is a very important visit," said Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique, noting that Yunus will meet King Charles III and is likely to hold bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, alongside other high-level engagements.

The chief adviser is expected to return home on 14 June.
