Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has asked all to devote themselves to serving people being imbued with patriotic devotion following the principles and ideals of Bangabandhu and his family members.

The foreign minister made the statement at a discussion organised by the foreign affairs ministry on the occasion of the birthdays of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and Bangabandhu's son and freedom fighter Sheikh Kamal, said a press release issued by the foreign ministry on Thursday.

Former Ambassador Shahed Reza attended the discussion as the chief guest and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam was present as the special guest.

Senior officials of the foreign affairs ministry, including Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen were also present on the occasion.

A documentary on Sheikh Fazilatunnesa and Sheikh Kamal was screened at the event as well.

Foreign Minister said, "Bangabandhu's achievement was made easy due to the determination, courage and inspiration provided by Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib."

"Throughout the autobiography of Bangabandhu, the activities of Bangamata have been portrayed in such a beautiful way and we all should know it," added the minister.

In regard to Sheikh Kamal, Dr Momen said Sheikh Kamal was a very humble and polite person as well as a freedom fighter and has contributed a lot to the country in his 26-year life span.

During the discussion, the foreign minister urged everyone to study the books published on Bangabandhu to know about the Father of the Nation in detail.

State Minister Md Shahriar Alam said, "Bangamata was the nucleus of Bangabandhu's family. The way she has built a family is an example to be followed not only in Bangladesh but also in the third world and beyond."

"The way in which she became a worthy companion and ally of Bangabandhu is God given and cannot be matched without the Creator's intervention."

At this time, Shahriar Alam called upon everyone to highlight the contribution of Bangabandhu and his family, especially Bangamata, in our work, social and personal life.

At the end of the discussion, everyone present prayed for the salvation of the souls of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Fazilatunnesa, Sheikh Kamal and for all the martyred family members of Bangabandhu's family.
