BD Venture Ltd, a tech-focused venture capital firm, has appointed Mamun Rashid as its new chairman, bringing on board a veteran financial expert to lead the company's next phase of growth.

Rashid is a seasoned professional with nearly four decades of experience in banking, consulting, and institution building, reads a press release.

He is known for his contributions to financial sector reforms in Bangladesh and for advising both government and private institutions on economic and strategic matters.

His corporate career includes leadership positions at international banks such as ANZ, Standard Chartered, and Citibank NA, where he worked to expand banking services and promote financial inclusion.

Currently, he serves as the president of ShopUp, Bangladesh's largest B2B commerce platform. He is also the chairman of Financial Excellence Limited, National Tea Company, and Marie Stopes Clinic Society Bangladesh.

The appointment is seen as a strategic decision for BD Venture Ltd, which aims to strengthen its position in the country's venture capital sector.

The firm is backed by eight major institutions—Mutual Trust Bank, National Bank, EBL Securities, LankaBangla Finance, Green Delta Insurance, MIDAS Financing, Asia Pacific General Insurance, and dataedge Ltd. Ownership is also shared by several prominent bankers, accountants, and capital market professionals.
